Summer Time

Wow I can't believe summer is over. We had a great summer we camped quite a bit this year and Emily did so good I think she will be a natural camper. Every year we go camping with Jesse's family for a week, we try to pick somewhere new each year and something in between us (both his brothers live in Utah) This year we went to Lava Idaho, which is just south of Pocatello. We took the long way down and stopped and camped for a night just outside of Virgina City so the next morning we got up had some breakfast and walked around the town. It is a old gold mining town that they have kept up and the old buildings still have stuff in them from back then so it was interesting to walk around and read all of the plaques they had up. This is Jesse on main street in Virgina City.

When we were all done there we hit the road and made it to Lava.
The one day we headed into Pocatello and went to a TV studio where Cheryl's brother worked and got a tour it was really neat and we got to be a live audience for one of their new TV shows which was interesting with Emily she was talking and screaming and we were supposed to be quiet. Then we went to the zoo which was more of a rescue then a zoo so we saw a few different animals
This is everyone looking at a mom and baby black bear.

We brought the motor bike so the one day we rode the bike and everyone else drove up to a cave by bear lake. It was a long ride but the cave a cool, there was a lot of stairs and I didn`t know if we were going to make it but we all had a good time.

There is a little river that runs through Lava and everywhere in town rents tubes so the one day Cheryl, the kids and I went tubing and Jesse and Shaun drove us back and forth. I would have to say it was the best tubing I have every done. Lesley and I went on a double tube and we even got tipped over pretty bad in the rapids and Lesley came out bleeding and had a war wound. It was so much fun we did it another day when Josh got there. In one spot on the river someone had made a damn with rocks and there was always people sitting there so we stoped on one of our runs down and the water coming off the hill was HOT, I couldn't sit too close to it, but it was a shock to get back into the cold river after sitting in the hot pool for a while.

The little town called Grace was just down the road from where we were staying and it was their fair days so we decided to go and watch the demolition derby the one night. It was well worth it.
After the derby they had this quad race there was two people on the quad one was driving and the other one had a balloon taped to his head and a pool noodle they rode around the circle and tried to beat the balloon off the other guys head the last team with a balloon won. It was pretty entertaining.
Where we camped we were with in walking distance to the hot pool so we went to them just about every night. They start out hot and each pool get progressively hotter. The temperature went from 102 which seemed hot when you first got in but then you went to the next pool then the next and the last pool was around 112 so we would walk from one end sit on the rocks a little while and cool off then walk back, there was little rocks on the bottom and they got pretty hot so I usually ended up floating through the pool.
We always have a fun time and can't wait till next year.
